”練習”をキーワードに、判型、デザイン、ページ数等の書籍フォーマットを固定化し継続的に刊行するシリーズ「Practice」。年に1〜2冊、計10冊の刊行を目指します。
 
長きに渡り続いた『石と桃』の発表も終わりがみえた頃、ひとつの題材と長く対峙してきたことへの反動で、私は身軽になることを望んでいました。
思いつきを最優先し、後先を考えず、鮮度が落ちる前に公の場へ放ち、それから作品のことを考える。
それらを念頭に置いて動き始めたのが、『Practice』という不定期刊行シリーズです。
 
第2弾となる本作『The Deadstock Hotel』は、私の故郷である福島県いわき市にて、およそ30年前莫大な予算をかけて建てられたものの途中で工事が打ち切りとなり、以来そのままの姿で残っているホテルを撮影した写真で構成されています。
 
 
The series "Practice" is based on the keyword "practice" and will be published continuously with a fixed book format, design, page count, etc. The aim is to publish one to two books per year, for a total of ten books.
 
The second installment, "The Deadstock Hotel," is comprised of photographs of a hotel in Kimura's hometown of Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, which was built approximately 30 years ago with a huge budget, but construction was halted before it opened, and the hotel has remained in the same state ever since.
